To God be the Glory!!

2 hours of sleep.

But I was ready to face the 2nd day of December. And so I woke up as if not deprived from sleep, fortunately. Half-day in class; half-day helping Maningning with sponsorships. ANU BA YAN. NAPAKAWALANG KWENTA.

Stressed. Mentally tired. Wasted. Constipated.

Hanggang sa…

Tumawag si Kuya at Chog sakin. Kaya Bro, maraming maraming salamat. Alam kong sinadya mong tumawag sila para mapangiti ako at mapawi yung lumbay na nararamdaman ko.

Though I may not be close with my block, my freshman year in the Ateneo has been so far amazing. I thought my 1st yr in college would suck because I was so detached from my block. I only had real conversation with I think 4 of my block mates only. Nonetheless, I found friends outside of my block. Wagas happiness if I’m with them. From TA rehearsals to SPEED area visits to just English classes, these people fill the empty hi’s and hello’s of my block mates.

1st picture - with Hannah and Mani, my TA friends

2nd - with Inna, my SPEED friend @PB Co.

3rd - with Kate, my english block- and condomate

4th - with Vianca and Ima, my PE classmate and Krisha’s friend, respectively, who eventually became my friend :))

SPEED. (Ateneo Special Education Society) Making a difference to the different.

Ever since I met my hairdresser’s daughter who was a special kid, I fell inlove with her. She was so adorable. I never really had any sympathy towards special children until the time the little girl and I met. I was sitting quietly in the salon, waiting for my hair to be trimmed, when she approached me. Her eyes weren’t meeting mine and I figured it was because of her condition. She asked me “Nagkakaanak ka na? (Can you bear a child?)" and I answered yes. She then asked me "Saan? (Where?)" It was so funny I had to share it to my friends.

I carried this memory from then on.

When I entered the Ateneo, I found out that there was an org who catered to special children: the Ateneo Special Education Society or SPEED. Every Saturday, we visit the Servants of Charity (SOC) in Tandang Sora, QC. I met the special people who had been completing my week with their hugs, smiles, and high 5s. They reflected happiness unto us. And this experience, to conclude, is just priceless.
